For Pedro González Travieso, president of the Real Estate Chamber of Venezuela, the distortions after the earthquake of June 24 do not allow us to measure the real impact of the new law. At the same time, the lack of trust in institutions prevents owners from renting their properties for fear of losing control over them.

More than three months have passed since the earthquake of June 24, a natural disaster that affected several areas of Venezuela, but none more than La Guaira, which lost more than 190 buildings and saw thousands of homes affected to the point that many have had and will have to be demolished because they are not in habitable conditions.
It is precisely because of this impact that The National Assembly headed by Jorge Rodríguez made the decision to discuss and approve the new Law on Special Regime for Leasing of Properties for Housingan instrument that on paper would serve to stimulate rentals in the country, especially to benefit people affected by the earthquake.
