PARAMARIBO — After her twelve-year-old daughter confided that her 28-year-old uncle RW had sexually abused her, the mother confronted the suspect with what her child had told her. The uncle then fled.
The mother reported the rape at the Latour police station in early August, but RW managed to avoid the police. The Suriname Police Corps wrote on its website on Monday (today) that he was hiding in various locations.
However, the Paramaribo Regional Assistance Team, in close cooperation with the intelligence service and the Youth Affairs department, eventually managed to arrest RW on September 24. The law enforcement officers encountered a number of sharp patterns. The uncle is also suspected of illegal possession of ammunition.
After coordination with the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect was taken into custody. The live cartridges have been confiscated. The case is further investigated by Youth Affairs.
