The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Ataf, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of Works of the high-level week of the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to what the Foreign Ministry reported in a statement on Sunday, September 27, during the meeting the two parties reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Iran and ways to enhance and expand them in various fields.
Araqchi praised Algeria’s role as a bridge for communication and cooperation at the regional and international levels, as there was agreement on the importance of continuing consultation and coordination on issues of concern to the two countries.
Attaf and his Iranian counterpart also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East region, where the necessity of continuing dialogue between Iran and the Arab countries was stressed to put an end to the state of conflict and promote political solutions that guarantee sustainable peace and stability.
