PARAMARIBO — District Commissioner Clyde Hunswijk of Marowijne-Zuidwest has continued his visit to various villages in his administrative area. During the second part of the working visit to the villages of Bernatimoffo, Akalekondre, Abadoukondre, Peto Ondro and Ricanaumoffo, various bottlenecks and development needs were raised by the communities.
The main challenges in these villages are:
-Construction of speed bumps near schools, with a view to a safer traffic situation
-Tackling and improving the access roads to the villages
-Construction of street lighting to improve safety and quality of life
-Construction of football fields for sports and recreation within the communities
-Construction of a bridge in Abadoukondre to improve accessibility
-Improvement of the Digicel and Telesur connections in the villages
The district commissioner indicated that he has taken note of the challenges and concerns raised by the various communities. These will be further inventoried and, where possible, addressed. He will commit himself to this and, where necessary, write to the ministries and relevant authorities involved with the request to provide the necessary support and look for appropriate solutions.
The aim of the working visit was to gain insight into current needs and bottlenecks directly from the communities. In addition, together with local authorities, we looked at options to further improve the living conditions of the residents.
