TRUMP’S SPEECH TO THE UN
Donald Trump has spoken to the UN, where, in addition to the agreement with Greenland and Denmark, he also touched on Iran, Gaza, Venezuela and much more. Get an overview here.
In his speech At the UN General Assembly in New York, the US President, Donald Trump, commented on the new agreement between the US, Greenland and Denmark, which was signed today.
Trump called it an unprecedented agreement, which gives the US control over security in Greenland.
– We are given the full opportunity to do what is necessary to defend the American continent.
– We will immediately start building a military presence, says Trump
Trump also states that the US will build two large military bases in Greenland. At present, there is one active US military base on Greenlandic soil: Pituffik Space Base.
The chairman of Naalakkersuisut, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, and Donald Trump have just signed the agreement between the two countries.
Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen attended the speech at the UN together with Naalakkersuisoq for foreign affairs, Múte B. Egede, and the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
– America is back
But before Trump reached the agreement on Greenland, he talked about a number of other things.
He started the speech by talking about how well things are going in the United States.
– America is back and our country is stronger than ever before, he said.
Including the tough controls on undocumented migrants in the US and crime rates.
He then uses the speech to talk about foreign affairs and the US’s actions towards other countries over the past year.
– While others have been talking, I have been acting. While others have talked about peace, I have made peace. When others ignored threats, I resolved them.
Trump proudly talks about how he has dealt with Iran and made sure they never get nuclear weapons.
– I have a big decision to make. Will there be a deal with Iran that will allow them to build a stronger nation than they were before, or will I wipe out the Islamic Republic? Shall I drive them to hell with no chance of survival or any hope?
After a moment, however, he says he expects them to reach a deal after the US midterm elections in November.
Ended eight wars
He then talks about the eight wars he claims he has ended since his second term as president began last January.
Including the war in Gaza, which he says he got resolved a few weeks after his last speech to the UN.
– A few weeks later we ended the war in Gaza. We also brought home all the remaining hostages, both the living and the dead. Everyone thought it was a miracle that we were able to do it and they celebrated in the streets.
And soon the war in Ukraine will also come to an end, says Trump, who claims that they will reach an agreement soon.
He then talked about Venezuela, Mexico and Cuba.
After mentioning the agreement with Greenland, he ends the speech by talking about AI and how it should be renamed Super Intelligence.
