Liceo Naval Case: Four interactive graphs to know the most reported types of school violence

Last Saturday, six high school students from the school Almirante Guise Naval High School accused of sexual violation against one of their classmates were preventively admitted to the youth center Maranguita. The case has raised alarms about cases of violence in classrooms.

Between January 2024 and August 2026, on the SíseVe portal of the Ministry of Education More than 50 thousand cases of alleged school violence were reported.

The reports also increase significantly as the educational level increases: more than 60% are concentrated in secondary school. 31% corresponds to primary school, while the initial levels make up the remaining 5%.

At all educational levels, physical violence is the most reported type of abuse, followed by psychological and sexual violence.

The SíseVe data – which group together reports from a period of two years and seven months – show that, starting in primary school, the main reported aggressor is no longer the staff of the educational institution and becomes another schoolchild.

While at the initial level 80% of the alleged aggressors are school workers, the proportion is reversed in the following grades. In primary school, 60% of the cases point to another student as the aggressor and 40% to the educational staff. In secondary school, violence between students reaches 70%.
