The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) unveiled the design of it new headquarters at the ‘Achievement Partners’ Forum on Sunday, which was held to celebrate four years of achievements in serving the private sector and strengthening its role in economic development.
Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, chairman, OCCI, said that the new headquarters building responded to its evolving roles and expanding services, providing a modern, integrated working environment that would enhance its ability to serve the private sector and host trade delegations and economic events.
He said that the project is strategically located in Madinat al Irfan in Muscat Governorate, within an integrated urban environment encompassing business districts and key facilities. The Chamber’s new building will include smart workspaces and advanced conference and event halls. He added that its design aimed to obtain the international LEED and WELL certifications for sustainability, indoor environmental quality and occupant wellbeing.
OCCI was founded on May 15, 1973. It is considered a private institution of public benefit that aims to organize, develop, defend and represent commercial interests in various fields.
Al Rawas affirmed that, throughout its Board’s 2022–2026 term, the Chamber had drawn inspiration from the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to empower the private sector and strengthen its role in economic development and the diversification of the national economy, in line with the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
His said that the achievements of this term went beyond the outcomes of programmes and initiatives, reflecting institutional progress in the Chamber’s roles and an integrated effort to enhance the private sector’s competitiveness, expand its opportunities and enable it to fulfil its role as a key partner in economic development.
He said chamber’s success in strengthening its financial sustainability by growing its investment portfolio. The portfolio increased by 45% to reach RO 67.1 million at the end of 2025, compared with RO 46.4 million at the end of 2022, an increase of approximately RO 20.7 million. He explained that this tangible growth in the investment portfolio strengthened the Chamber’s financial solvency and supported its ability to continue implementing high-impact initiatives and programmes to serve the private sector.
The Chamber has introduced 35 new regulations during 2026 and updated three existing regulations, bringing the total number of approved and updated regulations to 38. These measures aim to improve internal operations, enhance institutional performance, strengthen governance, transparency and oversight, and build a more efficient and sustainable institution.
