A fifth-alarm fire engulfed Commonwealth Market in Quezon City early Saturday, April 25, 2026, and rapidly escalating from the initial alarm within minutes, the Quezon City Fire District said.
The blaze broke out before dawn and quickly intensified, prompting a massive response from Bureau of Fire Protection units and volunteer firefighting groups.
Fire records showed the incident was first reported at 2:32 a.m. as “out to first alarm,” before being raised to first alarm at 2:34 a.m. and second alarm at 2:36 a.m.
It was further elevated to third alarm at 3:03 a.m., fourth alarm at 3:17 a.m., and reached fifth alarm status at 4:58 a.m., indicating a large-scale fire involving Commonwealth Market along Commonwealth Avenue, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Firefighters, including volunteers from the Marikina Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade, continue to battle the blaze as of this writing.
Authorities have yet to declare the fire under control and have not released details on the cause, extent of damage, or possible casualties.
