Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan participated in the meeting of the “Great Seven” (G7) environment ministers, which in its format and agenda has a special historical significance in the context of the formation of global environmental policy.
“Armenpress”this is reported by the Ministry of Environment of the RA, noting that before the start of the agenda work, Hambardzum Matevosyan had friendly contacts and meetings with fellow ministers and heads of delegations, emphasizing the importance of deepening international cooperation and joint, coordinated actions.
The minister assessed the participation of the Republic of Armenia in the format of the “Great Seven” (G7) environment ministers as a particularly important and symbolic event for our country.
“Armenia’s presence on this platform testifies to the growing confidence in our country and the increase of our role in the international environmental agenda. The G7 brings together the leading countries shaping the global agenda, and our involvement in this format gives us the opportunity to raise Armenia’s voice at the global level, presenting our approaches and priorities.
This also has historical significance, considering that Armenia is the upcoming host country of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). That circumstance obliges us to be more active and proactive in cooperation with international partners and to form a consolidated agenda aimed at protecting biodiversity and overcoming climate challenges,” said Hambardzum Matevosyan.
According to him, as a country hosting COP17, it is important to participate in such high-level platforms in terms of deepening dialogue, forming new partnerships and promoting joint initiatives. “The connections and agreements reached within the framework of the G7 will make a significant contribution to the efficient organization of the conference and increasing the impact of its results.”
The minister emphasized that Armenia is ready to contribute to the promotion of the global environmental agenda, acting as a reliable partner and responsible host country.
