The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is investigating the death of 23-year-old Aliyah Joseph of Delices, who was residing in La Plaine at the time of her death.
Joseph died on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Dawbiney Ward of the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital.
Police said Joseph had been receiving care at the Dawbiney Ward since August 30. The circumstances surrounding her death have raised concerns, and the CDPF has classified the matter as a suspicious death while investigations continue.
The cause of death has not yet been established. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances of Joseph’s death, including how and by what means she died.
An earlier statement from the Delices Village Council expressed an outpouring of sympathy for the young mother, who reportedly left behind two young children.
Meanwhile, the CDPF has also expressed condolences to Joseph’s relatives and friends following her passing.
The police force said its investigation remains ongoing.
