The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) has launched a new online Data Hub designed to give investors, researchers, policymakers and the wider public easier access to financial and securities market statistics.
The Commission said the platform, available through its corporate website, forms part of its efforts to improve transparency and provide timely, accurate and reliable market information.
Previously, securities market data was made available mainly through downloadable Excel spreadsheets and the TTSEC’s Semi-Annual Securities Market Bulletin.
The new Data Hub is intended to modernise how that information is accessed, providing a centralised and more interactive platform through which users can locate, analyse and monitor key market trends.
Among the information available through the hub are statistics on Collective Investment Schemes (CIS), including the number of issuers and funds, net assets by fund type, net assets by value type and total assets under management.
Users can also access information on total subscriptions and redemptions, as well as net subscriptions and redemptions.
The platform provides data on securities market intermediaries and market activity, including average CIS yields, repurchase agreement (repo) assets and liabilities, the number of repo contracts in issue, the number of repo dealers, average repo maturity and average repo returns.
Other statistics include the value of Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago bond issues, market capitalisation in both the Trinidad and Tobago dollar and United States dollar markets, and the value and number of over-the-counter transactions.
Data on private placements, including the value of private placement transactions and the number of private placement issues, is also available.
The TTSEC said the enhanced access to market data should support more informed investment and policy decisions while helping stakeholders better understand developments within the local securities market.
The Commission said the initiative reflects its strategic objective of using technology to strengthen access to information and build confidence in Trinidad and Tobago’s capital market.
It added that it would continue to enhance its digital services and provide information aimed at supporting the growth, efficiency and integrity of the securities industry.
