A strong tropical wave (the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly) is affecting the Lesser Antilles. Redevelopment of this system is unlikely; however, the wave is expected to bring locally heavy rains, gusty winds and thunderstorms to the northern Lesser Antilles, including Dominica, from later today into the overnight and early morning. A flood watch/warning may become necessary by midday. People in areas at risk of flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to stay alert, exercise caution and plan ahead.
Moderate to rough seas are anticipated today. Wave heights are forecast to increase to near 7 feet along the west coast and up to 10 feet along the east coast with strong onshore breaking wave action. A small craft warning and a high surf advisory are in effect, particularly for the northern and eastern coastlines. Small craft operators are advised to take the necessary precautions. Sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water.
