GEROGETOWN, Guyana – Chairman of the Cricket West Indies Masters Association, Raj Singh has revealed that preparations for the upcoming International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup are going smoothly.
Speaking earlier this week on the Mason and Guest radio programme, Singh said everything was coming together nicely for the 16-team tournament, which will bowl off in Guyana from October 17 to November 1.
“We [are] working on every aspect of things to run off this historic tournament in Guyana. The preparations are well underway, and we are ready to welcome the world to beautiful, undiscovered Guyana.
“This will be a spectacle in Guyana. The teams are indeed ready to compete and create history at this Over-40s global event. We have put things in place to have a successful tournament, and I am very confident of that,” Singh said.
West Indies have been drawn in Group A with defending champions South Africa, Canada, Namibia, Wales, Australia, Columbia and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Group B comprises New Zealand, Scotland, USA, India, Pakistan, England, Rest of the World XI and a Rest of the Caribbean XI.
Matches are scheduled to be played at the National Stadium, Anna Regina, Joe Jagmohan Hampton Court, Albion, Lusignan, Bourda, Enmore, Linden, DCC and Police.
