Voters in the Roseau North Constituency are preparing to participate in a parliamentary by-election on September 7, 2026, with three candidates vying for the seat. The contenders are Daniel Lugay of the United Workers Party (UWP), Ashma McDougal of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), and independent candidate Sherman Boston. Nomination Day took place on August 21, 2026, marking the formal start of the final stage of the electoral process.
Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph recently outlined the arrangements for polling during a briefing with members of the media at the Electoral Office Conference Room.
She identified 10 polling centres that will accommodate registered electors throughout the Roseau North Constituency, with voters assigned to specific locations based on their respective communities.
Polling Centre No. 1 will be located at the Goodwill Parish Hall and will serve electors from Pottersville. Centre No. 2, situated at the Alpha Center and Genesis Christian Union Preschool, will accommodate voters from Lower Goodwill East. Centre No. 3 will be based at St. Alphonsus Preschool for Lower Goodwill West, while Centre No. 4, at the Red Cross Headquarters and Christian Union Primary School, will serve residents of Upper Goodwill.
Joseph said Centre No. 5, at the Goodwill Primary School, will cater to Bellevue Rawle voters, while Centre No. 6 at the Fond Cole Community Center will serve Fond Cole. Centre No. 7, located at the Dominica State College, will accommodate Stockfarm electors, and Centre No. 8 at the Red Cross Headquarters will serve voters from Louisville. Centre No. 9, also at Goodwill Primary School, will be used by electors from Gutter Village, Tarish Pit and Goodwill, while Centre No. 10, at the former Chinese Embassy, will serve residents of Morne Daniel.
With polling day approaching, the Chief Elections Officer is encouraging eligible voters in Roseau North to familiarise themselves with their designated polling locations and participate in the election. The September 7 contest will determine which of the three candidates – Lugay, McDougal or Boston – will secure the constituency’s parliamentary seat.
