SALALAH: Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, inspected the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital project in Salalah as work advances towards completing the major healthcare facility in Dhofar Governorate.
During the visit, the minister reviewed construction progress and assessed the readiness of the hospital’s medical, technical and engineering facilities.
He was accompanied by Dr Hani bin Ahmed al Qadhi, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate; Eng Yousuf bin Yaqoub Ambu Ali, Director-General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health; and a number of ministry officials and specialists.
Eng Ambu Ali briefed the minister on the project’s implementation status, progress across its construction components and the approved schedules for completing the remaining work.
The minister later toured several key departments and facilities, where he inspected engineering readiness and medical equipment that has already been installed. Technical teams also briefed him on the equipment’s expected operational role in supporting specialised healthcare services.
Dr Al Sabti stressed the importance of ensuring that construction and technical installations remain aligned with the hospital’s future operational requirements, with particular attention to safety, quality and efficiency.
He also directed the project teams to address any challenges that could affect implementation and to maintain the pace of work in accordance with the approved schedules.
The new Sultan Qaboos Hospital is being developed as a major addition to Dhofar’s healthcare infrastructure, with modern facilities and medical equipment intended to strengthen specialised healthcare services and meet growing demand from citizens and residents.
The project forms part of Oman’s wider efforts to expand and modernise healthcare infrastructure and enhance the quality and capacity of medical services.
