Representatives from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and Morocco are looking to strengthen economic ties following a week of discussions focused on trade, investment and partnerships across key sectors.
An OECS press release said that the Economic Promotion Week, held in Morocco from June 22 to 26, 2026, was organised by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) to create new opportunities for cooperation between Morocco and OECS Member States. The OECS Commission also supported the initiative by bringing together regional priorities and helping advance projects that could provide practical benefits for communities across the Eastern Caribbean.
The participating OECS countries were the Commonwealth of Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The delegations consisted of representatives from investment promotion agencies, government ministries, chambers of commerce and private sector organisations, including the Invest Dominica Authority, the Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority, Grenada Investment Development Corporation, Nevis Investment Promotion Agency, Invest Saint Lucia, Invest SVG, Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Ministry of International Trade and Ministry of Economic Development and Investment, the Private Sector Unit of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce.
The group also included representatives from the OECS Commission, the OECS Business Council, and officials from the Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States in Morocco.
Ambassador and Head of Mission of the Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States to Morocco, His Excellency Ian Queeley, said the initiative demonstrated the shared interest of both regions in economic growth and cooperation.
“This Economic Promotion Week has reaffirmed that the relationship between the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States and the Kingdom of Morocco is one built not only on friendship, but on shared aspirations for sustainable economic growth, innovation, investment, and South-South cooperation. Through productive dialogue and meaningful exchanges, we have showcased the immense opportunities that exist between our regions and laid the foundation for stronger commercial partnerships.
“The OECS remains committed to deepening economic diplomacy by connecting our entrepreneurs, investors, and institutions with strategic partners in Morocco. We look forward to translating the momentum generated this week into tangible outcomes that create jobs, expand trade, and promote inclusive prosperity for the peoples of both the Eastern Caribbean and Morocco.”
The OECS stated that during the visit, participants met with Moroccan public and private sector institutions to discuss possible collaboration in agriculture, agro-processing, food security, renewable energy, fisheries, the blue economy, financial services, port development, maritime trade, air connectivity and tourism.
Discussions also examined ways to improve agricultural resilience, expand geothermal and solar energy opportunities, strengthen tourism links and increase economic connections between the Caribbean and Africa.
The delegation explored closer banking relationships, business-to-business partnerships and the possible creation of an OECS–Morocco Business Council. Opportunities within Casablanca Finance City and potential Moroccan investment in priority OECS sectors were also discussed.
Participants met with organisations including AMCI, the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports, Casablanca Finance City, the Professional Group of Banks of Morocco, OCP Africa, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, the Regional Council of Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, the Regional Investment Centre, and the Port of Dakhla.
A visit to Dakhla highlighted Morocco’s regional development plans and the potential role of the Dakhla Atlantic Port in supporting transatlantic trade, while also identifying opportunities for greater maritime cooperation and port development between Morocco and the Caribbean.
The Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States in Morocco welcomed the strong participation from Moroccan institutions and OECS partners, noting that the discussions created momentum for follow-up initiatives and future collaboration.
