JAKARTA – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemns the decision of the Republic of Nauru to open an embassy with the Israeli occupation authorities in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
As reported by ANTARA from WAFA, Thursday, July 23, OKI considers this step to be in violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, as well as weakening international efforts aimed at achieving peace based on a two-state solution.
The Secretary-General reiterated his rejection of the illegal decision, considering it a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions, in particular Resolutions 476 (1980) and 478 (1980).
The resolution affirms the cancellation of all Israeli actions aimed at changing the character, legal status, and demographic composition of the City of Jerusalem.
OKI meminta negara-negara untuk tidak membuka misi diplomatik di Kota Yerusalem dan menarik semua misi yang ada dari kota tersebut.
The organization also urged the Government of the Republic of Nauru to reverse its decision and comply with its responsibilities under the UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions.
The Republic of Nauru was also urged to support international efforts aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
