See you again at the end of August. These four weeks I park the columns to disconnect a little from the weekly periodicity. A way to see things differently since the holidays.
This year I’m leaving without recommending summer reading. I’m not very inspired or maybe it’s been days since I got the reading right. I follow the usual routine. I start reading the first few pages of books I’ve read some reviews of, although I prefer to make discoveries without preconditions, but there’s no way, most of the ones I’ve chosen don’t pass the test. If I’ve bought it, I try hard, I try to get to page 60 or 70 (a lot of times interest is piqued when you’re about to give up) but, I must say, I haven’t had much luck, and most of the new books have ended up on the shelf maybe later… only after the second try, if they don’t work they end up in the space, books to leave on the street, next to the office, on a makeshift tablet, so that anyone who wants to can take them at no cost. So, given the circumstances, if they want they can give me reading suggestions for the holidays. They are always welcome.
But next week I’m running away. First I go to the coast for a few days and relive the most magical moment of my childhood when we went down to the Costa Brava from Andorra. What a tender memory to go see the sea. I remember it like it was now. The first bath of the year, already late, in the afternoon.
Then return to Andorra and outings by bike or on foot through the country’s mountains. In Ordino I’m very good all year round, but I also like it when the rhythm of the country is different. This year we have the afternoon of the solar eclipse on August 12, and even if we only have 99% from the country (it seems a lie that this 1% takes away the famous solar corona), it is a good time to look for and find the most suitable place to be able, if allowed, to observe it from the Principality.
I’ll do some exploring before I decide, and it would be nice to find a place that hasn’t been talked about too much. Two or three ideas pop into my head, especially one that involves some effort, but I’d better keep it to myself, just in case. But it is clear that the higher the better.
