Five people have been picked up during a SAR operation after their dinghy took on water on Monday.
The police have started and was involved in a SAR operation on Monday afternoon.
Head of duty at the Greenland Police, Jørgen Madsen, informs Sermitsiaq that the report was received on Monday 13 July at 15:23, after which a SAR operation was initiated.
– There were five people on board the dinghy. The dinghy had started to take in water. The occupants were picked up by boat, says Jørgen Madsen.
Three taken to hospital
The warden says that those involved are safe, but that three of them were taken to the hospital in Ilulissat due to hypothermia.
– But they are all safe today, so the SAR operation has ended well, he says.
The control center could not state where the dinghy sailed from or where it was heading until the dinghy started taking in water.
