The investigation which involves the singer Carlos Alberto Sánchez Ramírez, known artistically as Charlie Zaatook a new step this Friday after the Attorney General’s Office will confirm the occupation of four assets valued at more than 45,467 million pesoswhich, according to the investigating entity, would be part of his heritage and would be related to resources from the extinct Tolima Block of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC).
The measure was adopted by the Justice and Peace Chamber of the Superior Court of Bogotáwhich accepted the request presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and imposed precautionary measures about the assets.

The goods correspond to a shopping center, two nightclubs and a hotel located in Girardot (Cundinamarca) and Ibagué (Tolima). According to the Prosecutor’s Office, officials of the Technical Research Body (CTI) carried out the occupation and registration of the properties, which in the coming days will be made available to the Victim Reparation Fund.
The decision is known days after the Prosecutor’s Office requested the domain extinction about property attributed to the artist within an investigation related to an alleged heritage framework associated with Tolima Block of the AUC.
According to the investigation, the then leader of that paramilitary structure, Diego José Martínez Goyeneche, alias Danielwould have resorted to third parties to carry out money movements and investments in real estate for the purpose of hide the illicit origin of the resources and prevent them from being destined for reparation for victims of the armed conflict.
To support the request, the Prosecutor’s Office indicated that it advanced judicial inspections, financial analysis, registry studies, testimonial evidence and accounting expertiseamong other measures, which allowed the reconstruction of the asset traceability and conclude, preliminarily, that they would be part of the illegal scheme investigated.

The prosecuting body specified that the precautionary measures correspond to a first instance decisionso the resources provided for by law.
So far, the singer has rejected any link with paramilitary structures and has publicly maintained that his heritage comes from his artistic activity and investments made with resources of legal origin. Meanwhile, the judicial process continues and it will be the justice that determines the final destination of the assets and the conclusions of the research.
