The former Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, submitted to the General Assembly of the Socialist Party the motion “for a new agreement for Albania”.
In a statement to the media, Spiropali said that the document is not only hers, but is open to all SP members. She emphasized that a new agreement cannot be drafted by one or two individuals, but must express the will of the party and society.
“I kept my promise and just submitted to the General Assembly of the SP the motion for opening the debate on the new agreement for Albania. It is not only my document, it is open to all members of the SP. I addressed it to Rama, the General Assembly and every member. An agreement for Albania cannot be drawn up by one or two individuals, but must express the will of the party and society”, said Spiropali.
She demanded more democracy, representation and social justice, as well as a fairer relationship between the state and the citizen. Spiropali said that young people are at the vanguard of demands for change and that the majority and the Socialist Party have the opportunity to respond to these demands.
“We need more democracy, representation, social justice, fairer relations between the state and the citizen. The young people who are at the forefront of the demands for change, are the ones who expect the most from us. I believe that the majority and the SP have all the opportunities to respond to these demands,” she said.
Spiropali also “stung” the head of the SP Edi Rama when he said: “This is not an attempt by a faction, nor for division, nor for division, but for the union of all the progressive energies of the SP and society. We must respond to the citizens not with arrogance but with humility by listening and channeling their demands through institutional channels. Justice is also addressed as one of the main issues, the independence of justice has been our pride.”
