According to the Internal Revenue Department (IRD), the process of assessing taxes for vehicle ownership transfers will transition to the Vehicle Automatic Valuation System (VAVS) effective 16 July.
Taxpayers must follow these steps to process it: Access the Portal at https://vavs.ird.gov.mm and log in using a phone number; Enter the license plate number and other required information. The system will automatically assess the vehicle’s value and calculate the applicable tax that can be paid directly through the integrated online payment system.
Afterwards, taxpayers must download the e-Tax Clearance Certificate (QR Form) to proceed with the ownership transfer at the Road Transport Administration.
Payments can be made via the IRD’s Tax Payment Hub, which is linked to the VAVS system. Accepted methods include MPU Debit Cards and MMQR Codes; Mobile Wallets: KBZ Pay, AYA Pay, CB Pay, uab Pay, A plus Wallet, Citizen Pay, OK$, Wave Money, Trusty Pay, Zego Pay, M-Pitesan, GTB Pay, and MoMoney.
