THE Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Mandalay Region, Yamethin District, conducted an introductory briefing on the Village Development Project (VDP) to be implemented and formed a project committee in Kanmyint Village, Yamethin Township, yesterday.
Yamethin Township Department of Rural Development Head Daw Aye Aye Win met village elders and villagers in Kanmyint Village and explained the objectives, processes and expected benefits of the Village Development Project (VDP). Project staff then explained the rules and regulations to be followed in selecting and forming the Village Development Committee, as well as the tasks to be carried out by the village. The villagers who attended the meeting selected and formed a seven-member Village Development Project Committee in line with the majority’s wishes to effectively lead and implement village development activities.
In Kanmyint Village, selected village development activities will be implemented by the villagers themselves using K15 million in support funds from the Village Development Project (VDP) and contributions from locals, with technical assistance and close supervision from officials of the Department of Rural Development. — Karan (Rural)
