A heated argument between two men in Valencia escalated into a cutlass attack on Friday afternoon, leaving one man with serious injuries and another in police custody.
Police said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at a house in La Plata Gardens, Valencia, where the victim and several other people were gathered.
Investigators said a verbal dispute between the two men escalated into a physical confrontation before they were separated by those present.
However, police said the suspect later returned armed with a cutlass and attacked the victim, inflicting several wounds to the head, neck and upper body.
Officers from the Valencia Police Post and the Valencia CID responded to the report.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Sangre Grande Hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect was still at the scene when officers arrived. He was cautioned and taken into custody as investigations continued.
Crime Scene Investigators were expected to process the scene as inquiries continue.
