This July 9th, The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) published several reports with alerts for this Thursday in Colombian territory.
According to the entity, several municipalities would have risk of heat stroke due to thermal sensation. Likewise, it published a report with possible floods and the areas that should be alert.
The note will be updated throughout the day, as Ideam publishes new alerts for this July 9.

146 hydrological alerts were issued 🌊, distributed as follows:
- 22.6% red (33)
- 39.0 % oranges (57)
- 38.4% yellow (56)
Faced with landslide threats ⛰️⚠️, 219 alerts were reported, corresponding to:
- 29.2% red (64)
- 64.4% oranges (94)
- 36.4% yellow (61)
Finally, 371 current fire alerts were registered, of which:
- 20.4% were red (76)
- 26.9% oranges (100)
- 52.7% yellow (195)

According to Ideam, in the last 24 hours, in Valledupar, the maximum temperature was 40.6 °C and in some municipalities of Bogotá it was below 5 °C

The Ideam forecast indicates that “rainfall will be recorded mainly towards Guainía, eastern Caquetá, Guaviare, eastern Putumayo and Amazonas.”

Recent conditions in Colombia
“During the last few hours, abundant cloudiness has been observed over the north and center of Colombian territory, accompanied by moderate to heavy rains in the Caribbean, northern Andean regions, some sectors of the Pacific, northeastern Orinoco and areas of the eastern Amazon,” said Ideam.
And he added: “Likewise, considerable rainfall has been recorded over the Colombian Pacific Ocean basin.”

Red alert in Yopal: sudden rising
The Ideam reported a red alert in Yopal. According to the institute, the “increases in levels in the last 24 hours.”
Special attention to “riverside communities and maintain vigilance against possible rapid variations in the level of tributaries.”

Orange alert: sudden flood in Boyacá
At 6:39 in the morning, Ideam reported alert in the Lengupá Riverclose to Campohermoso. The warning is orange level due to possible sudden flooding, as well as in its tributaries, such as the Mueche River.
Special attention is recommended in the municipalities of Rondón, Zetaquirá, Campohermoso, Santa María and San Luis de Gaceno (Boyacá). -
