The Department of Civil Protection has activated a pre-alert for high temperatures after the Meteorological Service issued this Sunday a orange warning for a new heat wavethe second this summer.
The forecast indicates that temperatures will be between 6 and 7 degrees above normal from today until at least Thursday, although the episode could be extended. They are expected highs of more than 33 degrees below 1,200 meters and, punctually, 37 degrees could be reached in the warmest parts of the Principality for tomorrow
The absence of afternoon precipitation will mean that the heat lingers during the night and that the minimums are also high, especially in the most affected urban areas. in the north, the rise in temperatures will be more moderatealthough highs can reach 32 degrees at 1,500 meters.
Civil Protection recommends limiting outings and physical activities during overtime heat, hydrate often, wear light clothing, protect your head and frequent air-conditioned places. It also asks to be aware of the most vulnerable groups, such as children, elderly or sick people who live alone, and to take care of pets.
Saturday too the pre-alert was activated due to very high fire danger in the central and southern areas of the countryand high in the rest of the territory. Faced with this situation, the lighting of fires, the launch of pyrotechnic rockets have been suspended and the use of fire in barbecue areas has been restricted.
