The “head” of the Call Centers in Tirana is arrested, Granit Pepnikaj was hiding in the “Olea Residence” complex in Dhërmi.
The operation was developed following joint investigations with Austrian authorities, which uncovered a sophisticated computer fraud and money laundering scheme.
According to SPAK, organized structures were used that functioned as legitimate companies, but that allegedly benefited over 50 million euros from citizens of European Union countries.
The arrest of Pepnikaj was made possible by the police of Vlora.
We remind you that the Tirana court has set the security measure of “prison arrest” for Granit Pepnika, the boss of the call centers, who was identified as part of a joint investigation with the Austrian authorities.
On the basis of the decision, the arrest warrant was also signed for Pepnika, who is being investigated for computer fraud and money laundering, and he has been declared an international wanted man.
It turns out that Pepnika owned 50 percent of the shares of the company “Gama Media Communication”, which he founded together with his partner, Jurgen Mela, on July 3, 2021. The company suspended its status after more than 8 and a half months of activity.
From the 2-year investigations, it turned out that hundreds of European citizens were defrauded and it is suspected that they benefited more than 50 million euros.
