There is a risk that the plane wreckage at Sermitsiaq could slide, and the accident commission is still working in the area.
For safety reasons there is a ban on traffic in a restricted area on Sermitsiaq.
The Greenland Police write this in a post on Facebook.
The ban applies in the period from 29 June to 29 September this year.
According to the police, the plane crash at Sermitsiaq in autumn 2025 is the reason for the ban.
– There is still a risk that the plane wreckage could slide down from its current location, and the Accident Commission is still working in the area, writes the Greenland Police.
The police have put up signs in the area and ask everyone to follow the instructions on the signs for their own safety and that of others.
The plane crash at Sermitsiaq happened on 25 October 2025. The pilot was the only occupant of the plane and he died. The body of the pilot and some wreckage were recovered on 7 November.
In connection with the salvage work, the authorities have stated that the wreckage is located in a difficult place on the mountain.
