On the morning of June 30 at 5:30, rescuers from the Tajikistan Emergency Situations Committee discovered the body of the chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Alisher Mirzonabot. The head of the press center of the CoES, Orif Nozimiyon, told Asia-Plus about this from the scene of the incident.
According to the department, the body of a man was spotted on the surface of the water near the village of Kisht, Shamsiddin Shokhin district. Rescuers pulled him out of the water and handed him over to the relevant structures.
“The medical examination confirmed that the deceased found was the chairman of GBAO Alisher Mirzonabot,” Nozimiyon noted.
The department noted that the search for the wife and daughter of Alisher Mirzonabot, who were in the car with him, continues.
Earlier, the CoES of Tajikistan specified that the body, discovered by rescuers on June 26belonged not to the head of GBAO Alisher Mirzonabot, but to his assistant Sadonsho Dzhanobalisho. This was confirmed by the results of a forensic medical examination. The body was found about 20 kilometers below the scene of the incident.
Initially, relatives mistakenly identified the deceased as Alisher Mirzonabot, but the CoES then emphasized that final confirmation of the identity would be given after an examination.
A day earlier, the body of the driver of the GBAO chairman, Sino Muborakshoev, was found in the same area.
Let us remind you that the search and rescue operation has been ongoing since June 17. On that day, the car in which the chairman of GBAO Alisher Mirzonabot, his assistant, the wife and two-year-old daughter of the head of the region were, fell into the Pyanj River.
