    Why is your air conditioner not cooling enough? One simple move will make a big difference

    When temperatures rise, many people reach for the remote control of the air conditioner and simply select the desired temperature.

    However, experts point out that for pleasant and efficient air conditioning, not only the temperature you set is important, but also the position of the wings, i.e. the slats that direct the air flow.
    Although at first glance they seem like a minor detail, it is the wings that play a key role in whether the room will cool down evenly or whether you will be the target of an unpleasant cold draft.

    Continuation of the news below the ad

    The air conditioner does not cool the room by “blowing cold”, but blows out cold air that then spreads through the room. The way you direct that air affects the speed of cooling, the uniformity of temperature and the overall comfort of staying in the space.
    Many mistakenly place the wings straight towards themselves, believing that this will cool the room faster. In reality, they often achieve the opposite effect – they feel a cold draft, while the rest of the room remains warmer. The best position of the air conditioner wings during the summer months is – upwards, that is, towards the ceiling.
    The reason is simple: cold air naturally falls downwards. When the air conditioner blows air towards the ceiling, it first disperses around the room, then gradually descends and evenly cools the entire space.

    The advantages of such a position are:
    * a more comfortable temperature in the entire room
    * less stuffy feeling
    * more even cooling
    * more efficient operation of the air conditioner

    Continuation of the news below the ad

    If you are sitting or sleeping in an air-conditioned space, it is especially important to avoid cold air blowing directly on your body.
    Most modern air conditioners have the “Swing” function, i.e. automatic movement of the wings. When it is switched on, the wings move continuously up and down, and in some models also left and right. This distributes cold air over a larger part of the room, which helps to equalize the temperature.
    The Swing option is particularly useful:
    * in larger rooms
    * when there are several people in the space
    * during very hot days
    * if you want to avoid constant blowing in one direction
    If you have already reached a comfortable temperature, you can leave the wings in a fixed position towards the ceiling. But during the initial cooling of the room, the Swing option can help to equalize the temperature more quickly.

    Many people achieve the most comfortable feeling with a combination of automatic movement during the first 15 to 30 minutes of operation, and then switching to a fixed position.
    How to properly use wings during the night?
    Many wake up stiff or hoarse after a night spent with the air conditioner on.
    To avoid this:
    * do not direct the air towards the bed
    * use the night mode (Sleep Mode) if the device has it
    * place the wings towards the ceiling
    * reduce fan speed
    In this way, the cold air will be distributed around the room without blowing directly towards the sleeping person.
