“It was only a matter of time, since the autumn, when the neighbors sent four paws caught in one shot in the forest camera. The hives are in our yard, right in the middle of the yard. So HE has been behind the door of the house,” Dace Rukšane writes on her Facebook account.
Although this incident with the uninvited guest happened last month, it does not change the fact that there are more and more roaches in Latvia. News about the encountered paws comes more and more often.
As “Jauns&Privāts” magazine informs, the writer’s house is located approximately 30 kilometers from Cēsis.
Writer Arno Jundze comments on the post on Facebook: “They are not afraid of houses or people. They walk where they like and the problems (losses) will only grow. A week ago, in the yard of the abandoned neighbor’s house, there was a similar scene near the beehives and footprints on the forest road.”
“Mushrooming will definitely not be pleasant anymore,” writes Una Ulme.
Rasma Kairova comments: “Bears are invasive animals, I don’t understand why we are advised to learn to live with them.”
We recently wrote that the population of brown bears in Latvia has grown significantly in recent years. According to researchers, there are approximately 150 bears in the country.
Although bear is usually not aggressive and tries to avoid human contact, more frequent encounters pose safety risks. Situations when a bear is caught unprepared or when a female is protecting her cubs can be especially dangerous. In addition, bears can cause damage to farms.
