In a condolence message addressed to the Secretary-General of FRETILIN, H.E. Dr. Mari Alkatiri, President Ghali conveyed, on behalf of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi people, his heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, comrades and supporters of the late leader, as well as to the entire people of Timor-Leste during this period of national mourning.

President Ghali paid tribute to Francisco Guterres “Lu Olo”, describing him as one of the most prominent figures in the history of Timor-Leste and a dedicated leader who devoted his life to the struggle for self-determination, freedom and national sovereignty.

The Sahrawi President highlighted the late leader’s distinguished role within FRETILIN and his contribution as President of Timor-Leste, noting that his courage, perseverance and commitment to democratic values inspired generations of East Timorese and helped guide the country through the challenges of nation-building following independence.
