Glavred tells you which styles can add unwanted bulk and why even trendy silhouettes should be chosen based on your body type.
What jeans add extra pounds
The stylist is convinced that some models can radically change the perception of the figure.
“If you still think that jeans can not visually add 5 kg, I have bad news for you,” noted the stylist.
According to the expert, the problem lies not only in the model itself, but also in how it matches the proportions of a particular person.
Flared jeans: Who are they not for?
The stylist named jeans widening from the knees as one of the most controversial models. According to the expert, if your legs are not “from your ears”, the widening effect may not work in your favor.
“The hips widen, the legs look more massive, and you yourself are shorter,” the specialist noted.
Such a combination becomes particularly unsuccessful in the presence of a combination of several factors:
- for strong stretching of the leg above the knee;
- for a sudden downward expansion;
- for a lowered waistline.
The stylist separately drew attention to the low waist.
“A low waist in general mercilessly steals the length of the legs. Therefore, regardless of all fashion trends, it is better to avoid it,” emphasized the expert.
Barrel leg jeans: Who doesn’t like the trendy model
The popular O-line or barrel leg jeans can also be difficult to fit. In everyday life, this model can create unwanted volume.
“In real life, this cut intentionally creates volume at the sides, making the legs appear rounder. If you have short or O-shaped legs, these jeans will instantly emphasize it and easily add a few extra pounds to you,” the stylist pointed out.
Banana jeans: how they affect proportions
Another style that can work off the figure is banana or slouchy style jeans. Such a model often looks effective on tall and slender girls, but in other cases it can highlight flaws.
“They will roughly emphasize any roundness, create a stable illusion of the curvature of the legs and add volume where it was never there,” noted the stylist.
Skinny straight jeans: why you should avoid them
Despite their versatility, skinny straight jeans also have their own characteristics. It is they who show all the advantages and disadvantages of the figure without forming a new silhouette.
“It’s a litmus test for your figure. They show everything you have and don’t have without embellishment,” explained the specialist.
If you don’t want to emphasize your hips or legs, the expert advises you to abandon this model.
“If you don’t want to draw unnecessary attention to your legs and hips, stop wearing them. And no low waist. To keep the hip line in the right place, choose only medium or high waist,” emphasized the expert.
How to visually lengthen your legs is a stylist’s secret
Even complex models can be adapted to the wardrobe if you choose the right footwear.
“And now for the secret to saving these tricky styles. If you want to wear flared, banana or O-shaped jeans, always wear shoes with a pointed toe,” advised the stylist.
“Even with a completely flat sole, pointed shoes act as an optical extension. They instantly extend the line of the legs, creating verticality, and simply save the proportions,” concluded the stylist.
