Israel and Lebanon: an ‘extraordinary round’ and the lesson is executive

There is still a push for direct Lebanese-Israeli negotiation US Attempts are being made to revitalize the comments issued that can be implemented, starting from the text whose content was agreed upon by the two governments. Lebanon andIsrael Following the preliminary round of direct negotiations that took place on April 14, 2026, and produced a “truce of days” and an agreement to create conditions for peace and limit the activities of non-governmental armed groups. The attempts also aim to crystallize what is possible from the text of the agreement issued about two weeks ago regarding the round of direct negotiations on June 2 and 3, 2026, taking into account the content of the “Declaration of Joint Intents” or the “Declaration of Ceasefire Implementation,” however many have called the text that includes a Lebanese and Israeli agreement to implement the ceasefire, the establishment of experimental areas controlled by the Lebanese Armed Forces, and the absence of any hostile intent between the two countries.

The text issued by the June 2 and 3 round of negotiations does not constitute an official treaty between Lebanon and Israel, and what was announced was the text of an agreement emerging from a negotiating round between the governments of Lebanon and Israel. But the current situation in… South Lebanon It does not help in implementing the details, which puts the text of the agreement in a “waiting spiral” and may disappear. Despite maintaining the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel and preparing to sit in an exceptional round of negotiations after the American-Iranian agreement, there is no magic power to implement by producing demands or even diplomatic offers for the rapid crystallization of the “negotiating hats.” Since the Israeli and Lebanese delegations will meet in a negotiating round in a few days, what is the atmosphere that prepares for a meeting at the negotiating table in Washington this time? Is there another agreement text that can be announced after the negotiating round next week? Is there a fear that any other text of the agreement will be referred to a spiral of waiting or disappearance?

According to an official Lebanese authority specialized in following up on the negotiations from Lebanon to An-Nahar, no decision has been taken on any official declaration of intent agreement yet, in order for it to be considered an official declaration of intent. As changes have occurred at the regional level recently, the Lebanese state is waiting for possible developments in the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations sponsored by the United States of America, with official Lebanese reliance on Washington maintaining its urgency to begin implementing what emerges from the Lebanese-Israeli direct negotiation rounds.

According to data from Al-Nahar, Lebanon is completing its preparations for the next negotiating round in a few days in the United States of America, and will once again raise the importance of Israeli withdrawal in parallel with the Lebanese army receiving the lands and redeploying therein and implementing the restriction of weapons in their surroundings, and this is what is known as model areas or experimental areas. However, renegotiating this proposal does not mean being able to easily decide on its widespread implementation.

The advisory team formed by the Lebanese Republican Palace to follow up on the negotiations from Lebanon is consulting with part of the Lebanese negotiating delegation on these details, which official Lebanon will present in the negotiating round scheduled a few days later in the United States of America. However, Israel refuses to withdraw its army from the zone classified as a buffer zone, etc., if Hezbollah does not disarm, which reduces the content of the Lebanese demand aimed at achieving Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
