Humanitarian mission
The fourth edition of the humanitarian medical surgical mission in ophthalmology began on Monday at the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU) in Agadir.
Organized by the ophthalmology service in partnership with the Association Volontaires du Maroc, the Fondation du Sud, the Ad-Diaa Association for the Preservation of Sight and the Kremer Eye Center in the United States, this solidarity initiative aims to allow patients to benefit from specialized and high-precision surgical interventions in the field of ophthalmology, in particular retinal and vitreous surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, reconstructive surgery of the eye and eyelids, refractive surgery for the correction of high myopia, as well as corneal transplants.
This edition sees the participation of a group of eminent ophthalmologists and international experts from the United States, Canada, Romania and the Dominican Republic.
This humanitarian medical mission, which will continue until March 11, will allow more than 200 scheduled surgical interventions to be carried out for the benefit of patients requiring specialized care.
Beyond therapeutic services, this initiative also includes a scientific and training program intended for ophthalmologists and resident doctors. This provides for the organization of scientific conferences, practical workshops and exchanges of expertise, thus contributing to the transfer of knowledge and the strengthening of national medical skills.
According to the Mohammed VI University Hospital of Agadir, this humanitarian mission illustrates the commitment of all participating partners and institutions to improving access to specialized ophthalmology services, strengthening international medical cooperation and contributing to improving visual health as well as raising the quality of care for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Souss-Massa region.
