Rail passengers travelling through Monaco are being warned to expect significant disruption on Tuesday, June 10, as a nationwide strike across the SNCF network affects services throughout the region.
The industrial action, involving multiple branches of the French rail operator including SNCF Réseau, Gares & Connexions and SNCF Sud Azur, is expected to have a particularly strong impact on the busy Les Arcs–Draguignan to Ventimiglia corridor, one of the key rail links serving the Principality.
As a result, train services at Monaco-Monte-Carlo station are likely to be heavily reduced, with delays, cancellations and altered schedules anticipated throughout the day.
Authorities are urging commuters, residents and visitors to check service updates before travelling and to make alternative arrangements where possible. The Princely Government has encouraged employees able to do so to work remotely and has also recommended car-sharing and other transport alternatives to help ease pressure on regional transport networks.
The disruption comes as Monaco continues to rely heavily on rail transport, with millions of passengers passing through Monaco-Monte-Carlo station each year. The station remains one of the busiest regional TER hubs on the French Riviera, serving thousands of daily commuters travelling between the Principality and neighbouring French and Italian communities.
Updated train schedules and traffic information are expected to be available through SNCF’s usual communication channels, including SNCF Connect, TER Zou! services and real-time station information platforms. Authorities have advised travellers to consult the latest updates before heading to the station.
