Yap inspects the ongoing drainage upgrading works at Taman Happy Valley during a site visit.
KUCHING (June 10): The RM2.53 million drainage upgrading project at Taman Happy Valley here is progressing according to schedule and remains on track for completion within the stipulated timeframe, said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
He said the construction works were advancing as planned and stressed the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure public projects are implemented efficiently and deliver the intended benefits to residents.
“The people of Taman Happy Valley have endured flash flood problems for many years.
“This project did not happen overnight. It is the result of persistent engagement, numerous site visits, continuous follow-ups with the relevant authorities, and a systematic effort to secure the necessary funding and approvals,” he said after inspecting the project site yesterday.
Yap noted that while securing project allocations is important, proper implementation on the ground is equally crucial.
He said he would continue to personally monitor the progress of the works and maintain close communication with the implementing agencies to ensure the project is completed according to specifications and on schedule.
Yap added that his approach to public service is action-oriented, practical and focused on delivering tangible results for the people.
“As the elected representative for Kota Sentosa, my responsibility does not end with raising issues. It begins with identifying problems, engaging stakeholders, securing solutions, monitoring implementation and following through until the issues are resolved,” he said.
He described the drainage upgrading project as an example of how longstanding community issues can be resolved through close cooperation between residents, government agencies and elected representatives.
Yap reaffirmed his commitment to working with relevant agencies to address infrastructure, drainage, road safety, public amenities and other community concerns throughout Kota Sentosa.
“My priority has always been to ensure that the needs of the people are heard and acted upon.
“I will continue to work diligently and systematically to resolve issues affecting residents and bring meaningful improvements to every part of Kota Sentosa,” he added.
