The company reported that several employees were injured in the incident. They received medical attention. The passengers had not yet been boarded on the flight that was scheduled to depart for Los Angeles. Only crew members and ground handling staff were on board at the time of the incident.
An airline spokesman said the aircraft’s “nose landing gear unexpectedly retracted” while the aircraft was parked.
Due to the incident, the airline canceled flight LH450 from Frankfurt to Los Angeles, which was supposed to be operated by this aircraft.
The company also stated that the exact reasons and circumstances surrounding the incident are being established.
