Minister César Rossel, of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE), confirmed that the numbers from Sunday’s elections show an increase in the influx of voters from the main political parties. From the Electoral Justice they highlight the Paraguayan system and are already drawing up the strategy for the October elections.

He Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE) closed the balance of the municipal internal elections and reported a historic rebound in membership participation at the polls. As detailed, it exceeded the numbers recorded in the 2021 elections.

The minister of the TSJE, Caesar Rosselhighlighted that the figures show that the Paraguayan voter maintains an interest in political processes, a trend that is consolidated in the face of the municipal general elections scheduled for next October.

The National Republican Association (ANR)in the internal elections of 2021 it had a participation of 44%. On this last day, the ruling party experienced a significant jump in 50% attendance.

TSJE says it has an export model

The head of the TSJE stuck out his chest for the paraguayan electoral system at the continental level. Likewise, he highlighted that the Preliminary Electoral Results Transmission System (TREP) It is constantly praised worldwide for its speed and transparency.

Rossel guaranteed that the institution is protected and in permanent session. “We are prepared for a lot of scenarios; We work under crisis and we know that there are groups of people who seek to destabilize institutions, as happens in other countries. But here the rules of the game are clarified a year before and the political parties control each other on D-Day through their representatives, observers and board members. “The voting machine is just one component of a completely transparent system,” he explained.

Regarding the observations received from the European Unionthe minister clarified that the recommendations towards the institution are practically null and that 95% of the points indicated correspond to constitutional or legal reforms that depend on Congress.

The challenge for October is to teach how to control the ballot

With a view to the general elections of October 2026, the TSJE He announced that the process It will be extremely agile and simplified for the voter, given that the screens will offer only two candidacy options per municipality: mayor and councilors.

However, Minister Rossel identified a critical point on which they are already working to avoid confusion or mistrust with the technology.

The institutional contingency plan will consist of maximally strengthening the training of both polling station members and citizens in general at the time of voting.

“What we most encourage and ask of people is that citizens control your votes physically. Once the machine prints the ballot in the dark room, the person you must look at the paper, pass the ballot through the digital reader and verify for herself that what she chose on the screen fully matches the record,” the minister concluded.
