11,000 candles will light up Ordino again on June 18 in a new edition of the candlelight night. The event is in its seventh edition endorsed “by the success” it has obtained since it was launched in 2019 with the intention of promoting the culture and the sustainable tourism. New structures hung on the buildings to be able to illuminate the heritage of the parish will be the great novelty of an appointment that will have musical performances in different placesin addition to ‘foodtrucks’, guided tours in the House Museum of Areny Plandolit and face painting
“La Nit de la Candela is not only a visual, magical, show night but it is also an occasion for us to program culture”, highlighted the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Social Welfare of Ordino, Mònica Armengolwho emphasized that it is quite a “challenge” to carry out this event because the “expectations are very high”. The event will start at 9.30 pm and will bring music and performances to different places in the town of Ordino. like that Wax&Boogie Trio will act at Plaza Mayor; Richy Vuelcom & David Amat they will do it at Pajó square; Vibrand Music will act at patio of the Era Rossell; Odara Trio to the gardens of Casa d’Areny Plandolit; Hands of Fire at garden of the Casa Pairal and the gardens of Casa Rossell will be the stage for the performance of Neus Mar and ballerina. In addition, you will be able to enjoy several ‘food trucks’, which have been expanded with respect to previous editions; fluorescent face painting and guided tours of Areny Plandolit until one in the morning.
The consul major of Ordino, Maria del Mar Comahas emphasized that the candle is “a unique proposal, a party that anticipates summer” and serves to enhance and publicize the cultural and artistic heritage of Ordino. He appreciated that it is an appointment that “attracts a lot of people” and, therefore, energizes the town, but that it does so in a “non-invasive” way and in “coherence” with the cultural and sustainable tourism policy of the parish. In this sense, he remarked that the complicity of the tourism sectoras it wants to boost economic activity. Comma has also stated that to respond to the need for parking that entails the appointment a hundred spaces will be made available on Avinguda de les Moles.
The event has another year with the support from Andbank and Nord Andorràwho have been sponsors since the beginning. The director of Banca País d’Andbank, Maria Suárezhe emphasized that it is a “magnificent initiative” and did not hesitate to point out that it is “one of the best events in the country”. The organization appreciates that it has been a success with spectators since the first edition and has served to promote sustainable tourism, culture and new artists. In turn, the director of Northern Andorra, Laura Bonethas also praised the candlelight night and has stated that it is “one of the most special cultural events in the country” and that it serves to “rediscover I order with a different look”, transforming the town’s streets and serves to create “shared moments between visitors, neighbors, artists and families”.
