The Brussels Police Department advised people to avoid the area around the Central Railway Station. Brussels train station, while the remains of vandalized bicycles and street signs were visible at the scene.
The government of the French community in Belgium, which is responsible for French-language education, plans to increase annual tuition fees in higher education from €835 to around €1,100.
It is also suggested that teachers in the final years of high school take two extra hours in the classroom per week.
The French Community’s parliament is expected to vote on the proposed spending cuts later Thursday.
