PARAMARIBO — Workers from Caremco Holding were busy on Thursday evening paving a small part of the Van ‘t Hogerhuysstraat – the western carriageway between the Lenieweg and the Slangenhoutstraat (immediately adjacent to the Surmac complex). A foreman of Caremco Holding made it clear the True Time that for now only this part would be addressed.
He does not know whether the company has to do or will do more, because Caremco Holding has not been commissioned to do so. While the western carriageway is being tackled, the holes in the road surface – exactly where work is being done – are visible on the northern carriageway.

The Road Authority had it on Thursday afternoon Facebookpage mentioned the ‘urgent asphalting’. The work started at 4pm and will last until 6am on Friday morning. “Depending on favorable weather conditions, the Road Authority will make every effort to complete the work as quickly as possible and to minimize inconvenience to road users as much as possible,” it is noted.
The western carriageway will be completely closed to traffic during the work. Road users driving from south to north are advised to choose alternative routes, including Industrieweg Noord (turn left) and Koffiedam (turn right).
