US President Donald Trump claimed that an unnamed new drug could bring people back from the dead during a press event for maternal healthcare last month.
“We’ve taken people that were dead. We had a person given the last rites – gone, the kids are crying, and everything – and started them on this drug. And the person became better. It works,” Trump insisted.
The president’s bold claim was made while he boasted about the success of the Right to Try Act, which allows terminally ill patients to pursue experimental treatments that haven’t received full approval from the FDA.
“And some [drugs] don’t work. You learn very fast. It’s called the ultimate test, I think, right? They test all these things,” Trump added. “They use animals all over the place, they use everything to test because a person’s going to die.”
In February, Trump unveiled TrumpRx.gov, a website that offers consumers access to discounted prescription medicines and is a central pillar of his efforts to lower drug prices in the United States.
As of May 2026, TrumpRx has over 750 medications, from brand-name drugs to widely used generic medicines.
