“Last year, we successfully held the first forum in Astana. Today, it is our turn to host our friends and partners. It is gratifying to see that the interest in joint work is only growing. The agricultural sectors of Belarus and Kazakhstan have always served as a solid foundation for our national economies and remain a key factor in strengthening not only food security but also overall economic security,” Ivan Smilgin noted.
Kazakhstan is an important and reliable partner for Belarus, with cooperation built on the complementarity of their potentials. “Our foreign trade is showing a positive trend. In January-March 2026, the volume of foreign trade [in the agricultural industry] exceeded $127 million, up 32.5% compared to the same period last year. The steady momentum of the Belarus-Kazakhstan trade and economic ties brings tangible benefits to both sides,” he added.
The deputy agriculture and food minister described the forum as a great platform for networking and signing contracts. “The Belarusian side is ready to share its experience and hold B2B meetings so that our countries and businesses can find new growth drivers,” Ivan Smilgin noted. “We highly appreciate the openness and constructive attitude of the Kazakh side.”
Belarus and Kazakhstan are bound by more than just a long-standing partnership. The two countries operate within a single economic space, maintain stable trade ties, and actively develop industrial cooperation, joint projects, dealer networks, as well as scientific, technical, and business collaboration.
Kazakhstan is one of Belarus’ key trading partners, holding a special place among CIS nations in terms of Belarusian export volumes. At the forum, Belarusian enterprises presented their proposals and capabilities to Kazakh partners to expand cooperation.
The event brought together representatives of government agencies, the business community, the agricultural industry, as well as industrial enterprises and organizations interested in developing practical cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan. On the sidelines of the forum, cooperation agreements were signed for the sale of machinery, veterinary drugs, special modular tanks for bulk materials, and other products.
