A rights and freedoms judge from the Argeș Court ordered, on May 23, 2026, the preventive arrest for 30 days of a police officer from Câmpulung, in a case of traffic of influence instrumented by the National Anticorruption Directorate – Pitesti Territorial Service. The measure comes after the prosecutors formulated a proposal in this sense, against the background of some accusations aimed at alleged interventions promised in exchange for sums of money.
A policeman and his dual role at the center of the investigation
In the attention of the investigators is Marian Niculin-Rujoiu, who at the time of the events was a police officer within the Câmpulung Municipality Police – Public Order Bureau, but also president of a county branch within a trade union from the police.
In this capacity, he would have entered into a relationship with another policeman, from whom he would have requested money to mediate his transfer between county structures.
Claims of money and promises of influence
From the data presented by the prosecutors, it appears that the situation would have started in February 2026, when the defendant would have claimed the amount of 12,000 euros, and later, in March 2026, he would have received 10,000 lei, representing part of the requested amount. Instead, he would have claimed that he can intervene with people with management positions in two county police inspectorates to facilitate the policeman’s move.
