A colleague recently ordered the laying of tiles on the balcony from the finishing construction company. Workers from India came to him and, according to a colleague, performed the work professionally and with high quality. They came to Slovenia hungry for bread, so that they could support their family in their homeland, and for now they are happy here. They have a tidy apartment, they are ready to work on Saturdays and Sundays, and at the end of the month they receive around 1,300 euros.
In March of this year, according to the data of the Statistical Office, there were already 150,765 foreign workers in Slovenia, which represents 16 percent of the active population in Slovenia. But in the recent period, there have been noticeable changes in the structure of foreign workers. Workers from the Balkan countries still dominate, but their number is decreasing slightly, and according to the second state, more and more Asian workers are working here. Including Russian and Turkish workers, there are already more than 14,700 of them, which represents almost a tenth of all foreign workers here.
