A camera recording from Rio de Janeiro recorded a dramatic accident – 32-year-old Fabiana Rosa, while walking down the street and looking at her phone, stepped on the cover of an unsecured sewer hatch, “Nexta” reports.
The lid turned and the woman fell into the hatch, then the lid slammed shut above her. The accident happened quickly and dramatically, but Fabiana was rescued within minutes. He was rescued by a motorcycle taxi driver along with other passers-by. The woman suffered bruises, abrasions and a head injury, but was released from hospital the same day after receiving medical treatment.
The investigation shows that the hatch cover was damaged and loose several hours before the accident. Metal thieves who often destroy infrastructure in Brazilian cities are suspected of stealing copper cables.
