Police have launched a triple murder investigation after three men were killed and three other people injured in a brazen daylight shooting in Malick on Friday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Oren Danglade, also known as “Grimey”, Keron Paul and Akins Phillip.
According to police reports, the attack occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at Upper Seventh Avenue, Malick.
Investigators said several people were liming in a yard when a white SUV pulled up nearby. Three armed men reportedly exited the vehicle and opened fire with high-powered rifles, sending residents scrambling for cover as dozens of shots rang out through the neighbourhood.
When the gunfire subsided, five people were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
Danglade sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Phillip and two other injured men were taken for medical treatment, while police officers transported another critically wounded victim to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope.
Phillip later died while undergoing treatment at the Port of Spain General Hospital. Paul subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, bringing the death toll to three.
The two surviving male victims remained hospitalised up to late Friday, while a woman who was grazed by a bullet received medical treatment.
Residents told investigators they heard a barrage of gunfire shortly after 1 p.m. and, upon checking, discovered the victims near a pink house along the roadway.
Police from the Northern Division and homicide investigators visited the scene and launched inquiries into the motive behind the attack.
The killings pushed Trinidad and Tobago’s murder toll to 162 for the year so far, compared with 168 for the corresponding period in 2025.
