Thousands of visitors, Cypriots and foreigners, have been since Friday in Larnaca, which is once again hosting this year’s great celebration of Flood.
Larnaca, a city inextricably linked to the sea and tradition, welcomes a crowd of people for the events of the Flood, which will last until Wednesday, June 3.
Families, young and old, fill the beach road of Finikoudes every night, taking walks, playing various games and enjoying food and drink, along with traditional loukumades of course.
OR Larnacawhich measures more than 100 years of tradition in the celebrations for the feast of the Holy Spirit, this year again gives its visitors moments of culture, entertainment and authentic Cypriot hospitality, next to the sea.
Music, folk tradition with contests of Cypriot poetry, love songs, chit players, flute, ball and Cypriot dances as well as concerts with acclaimed Cypriot and Greek artists, offer visitors a rich artistic program every night.
Throughout the six-day celebrations, four stages operate at the same time every night, the central one located on the beach of Finikoudes and the other three in Europe Square, in the Medieval Castle Square and in the Medieval Castle, which host a rich artistic program full of musical tradition and entertainment, while theatrical events and children’s events have a special place.
On the platform of the Medieval Castle, from May 29th until today, Monday June 1st, the established Shadow Theater Festival is hosted, offering moments of laughter and tradition to young and old.
Still in Kimonos Square, in specially designed stands, traditional Cypriot professions are presented again this year, offering visitors the opportunity to get to know the rich folk tradition of the place up close.
Artisans demonstrate their craft and walk visitors through the construction process step-by-step, creating a vibrant and authentic cultural experience.
The great celebration of the Flood could not miss the donuts and the fruit vendors with nuts, suzuko, fresh and dried fruits and various other dishes which are connected to the Cypriot tradition and are found in every fair and festival.
It is noted that again this year Larnaca included various nautical and sports events in the Kataklysmos program, including competitions such as Beach Volley, open sea boat races, sailing and canoe kayaking.

The Fig Tree Bay event square in Protaras was packed with tens of thousands of visitors on Sunday evening, during the big concert of the popular Greek singer Thodoris Ferris.
The concert took place as part of the Famagusta Flood events, which were organized by the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia in collaboration with the Municipality of Famagusta, attracting visitors from all over Cyprus.”
In a related announcement it is stated that “Thodoris Ferris impressed the audience with his presence and his program, in a unique evening by the sea, in the square of Fig Tree Bay, the only Cypriot beach that is among the 19 best beaches in Europe. The huge influx of visitors had a particularly positive impact on both the beaches and the tourism businesses in the area, contributing significantly to the movement of the local economy.”
Greetings were addressed by the Mayor of Paralimni – Deryneia Giorgos Nikolettos, the Mayor of Famagusta Simos Ioannou and the Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis.
During the concert, the Mayor of Paralimni – Deryneia presented Thodoris Ferris with a commemorative gift with the logo of Protaras Riviera, while before the start of the event he was also offered a bag with souvenirs of the Municipality’s new tourism brand.
