The discovery was done by the provincial Market Surveillance Department during a special inspection campaign targeting counterfeit products and trademark infringement between May 7 and May 30.
During this period, 28 businesses were found to have committed offenses involving counterfeit trademarked goods and were fined a combined VND513.75 million (US$19,510).
The most significant cases were discovered during surprise inspections conducted on May 22 and May 27, when officers found 985 counterfeit products on display and for sale at two businesses, namely Alo Store – Thoc Store and Navigator Shop, both located in Nha Trang Ward.
The items included T-shirts, jackets, footwear, and other fashion products bearing counterfeit versions of the Nike, Adidas, and Crocs trademarks.
The total value of the seized counterfeit goods was estimated at nearly VND255 million ($9,685).
Authorities said that shops often exploit tourist demand, especially from South Korean visitors, for luxury brands like Gucci, Chanel, Crocs, and Bvlgari.
The demand creates opportunities for illegal traders to sell fake goods at high prices for illicit profit.
During the campaign, authorities also ordered the destruction of 1,250 infringing products including clothing, footwear, sunglasses, hats, backpacks, socks, and motorcycle accessories, with a total value exceeding VND218 million ($8,280).
Another 1,295 products worth nearly VND298.5 million ($11,340), remain under temporary seizure while authorities continue their investigation and determine further legal action.
